St. John’s Moves into Top 10 After Big Win
St. John’s (Minn.) used a stingy defense to hand conference rival, then-No. 18 Bethel (Minn.), a 27-7 loss. The Johnnies held Bethel to just 89 rushing yards and 233 yards of total offense. The win vaulted St. John’s to No. 9 in this week’s AFCA Division III Coaches’ Top 25 Poll while the loss dropped the Royals out of the Top 25.
The Top 4 remain the same this week with No. 1 North Central (Ill.) receiving 48 first place votes, followed by Mount Union (Ohio) at No. 2, with one first-place vote, Wisconsin-Whitewater at No. 3, and Wartburg (Iowa) coming in at No. 4. Wisconsin-River Falls joins the Top 5 thanks to an upset loss by Hardin-Simmons (Tex.).
The Cowboys were upset by Endicott (Mass.), 37-10, who jump into the poll for the first time this season at No. 23. The loss dropped Hardin-Simmons to No. 19.
