Southern Illinois Takes Down UIW

Southern Illinois scored 35 points in the first half of their matchup against UIW and that was all the points they needed as the Salukis held on for a 35-28 win. UIW made a comeback, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough. Southern Illinois rises to No. 7 in this week’s AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, presented by Hudl, while UIW falls four spots to No. 18. The Salukis don’t have time to rest as they host newly ranked and No. 21 Southeast Missouri State this coming Saturday in the annual War For The Wheel game.
South Dakota State still sits No. 1 with 22 first place votes, followed by North Dakota State, who survived a scare from East Tennessee State and had to score late to win, 38-35. Montana State received the final three first place votes and is No. 3. Idaho and Villanova switched places this week after the Vandals manhandled then-No. 15 UAlbany, 41-13.
