South Dakota State Rolling Into Week 7 Matchup
October 10, 2022
South Dakota took an early 3-0 lead after the first quarter against South Dakota State, but it was all Jackrabbits after that. Isaiah Davis recorded three rushing touchdowns and the SDSU defense recorded seven sacks enroute to a 28-3 win. South Dakota State still sits No. 3 in this week’s AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll as they prepare to face conference rival and No. 1 North Dakota State in Fargo next Saturday.
William & Mary’s upset of then-No. 6 Delaware caused a shakeup in the Top 25. The Blue Hens fell to No. 12 while William & Mary rose four places to No. 13. UIW jumps back into the Top 10 at No. 9 with a 5-1 record and Montana State and Sacramento State flip-flopped the 4th and 5th spots for a second straight week. Austin Peay and Richmond re-enter the poll after a one-week layoff at No. 24 and No. 25, respectively, while Princeton enters at No. 23 for the first time this year. The Tigers are 4-0 after beating Lafayette, 23-2.
There are two other Top 25 matchups besides the big one with North Dakota State and South Dakota State. No. 16 Villanova travels to No. 25 Richmond while No. 18 Elon travels to No. 22 Rhode Island. Both are key games in the Colonial Athletic Association.
