Mount Union Keeps Rolling

The No. 2 team in the AFCA Division III Coaches’ Top 25 Poll keeps on rolling. Mount Union (Ohio) recorded another dominant win, beating Capital (Ohio), 49-14. The Purple Raiders defense has been the story this season, recording three shutouts in six games. They lead the nation in total defense, allowing just 135.2 yards of offense per game and have allowed only four touchdowns so far in 2022.
North Central (Ill.) still sits No. 1 after a 65-0 blowout victory over Millikin (Ill.). The Cardinals next opponent may be their toughest as they travel to St. Louis to face No. 21 Washington University (Mo.). The Bears and Cardinals are tied for the top spot in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with identical 5-0 conference marks.
Two more teams entered the Top 25 this week who haven’t been ranked in a while. Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) comes in at No. 24. The Lions last ranking in the AFCA Top 25 was on November 16, 2009, while Endicott (Mass.) is ranked for the very first time at No. 25. The Gulls, who just started their football program in 2003, are 6-0 and sitting on top of the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
