FERRIS STATE HOLDS AT NO. 1 IN AFCA TOP 25
September 6, 2022
Ferris State (Mich.) handed Central Washington a 36-20 loss and kept their No. 1 ranking in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Bulldogs recorded 494 yards of total offense and held Central Washington to less that 230 total yards in the victory. Ferris State’s next contest is a Top 25 matchup as they travel to No. 14 Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.).
The rest of the Top 5 was almost identical to the preseason poll with Northwest Missouri State at No. 2 and Valdosta State (Ga.) at No. 3. Grand Valley State (Mich.) beat Colorado School of Mines, 25-22, knocking the Orediggers from their No. 4 spot to No. 12. The Lakers now sit No. 4 and have a second straight Top 25 matchup as they will travel to No. 21t Colorado State-Pueblo. The Thunderwolves jumped into the poll this week after handing then-No. 24 Midwestern State (Tex.) a 59-27 beating.
In the final Top 25 matchup of week two, Colorado School of Mines gets a chance to bounce back, but it will be a tough challenge as they play host to No. 6 Angelo State (Tex.). The Rams beat Chadron State (Neb.), 35-0, in their season opener.
