[FCS Poll] James Madison Survives Upset Bid From Stony Brook

After giving up 10 unanswered points to close out the 4th quarter, No. 2 James Madison was going to need overtime to survive the upset bid from then-No. 24 Stony Brook. The Dukes regrouped and scored a quick touchdown to take a 45-38 lead before the defense forced a turnover on downs to finish off the Seawolves. With the win, James Madison remains No. 2 while Stony Brook jumps one position up to No. 23 in this week’s AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

Following yet another North Dakota State win over a ranked opponent, the Bison received all 26 first-place votes and remain the No. 1 team in the nation. The rest of the top 5 remains unchanged following wins by South Dakota State, Kennesaw State, and Weber State.

Week 7 will feature a trio of Top 25 matchups, two of which featuring Top 10 teams. The biggest matchup comes from the Colonial Athletic Association when No. 2 James Madison plays host to No. 7 Villanova. No. 1 North Dakota State will face their second straight Top 10 opponent as they host No. 10 Northern Iowa. Last but not least, No. 3 South Dakota State will host No. 17 Youngstown State in the second Top 25 matchup from the Missouri Valley Conference.
