[FCS Poll] Elon Upsets James Madison To Shuffle Top 5 In AFCA FCS Coaches Poll

Elon emerged with a 27-24 upset victory over then-No. 2 James Madison that sent waves through the Top 25 of this week’s AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. Following the Phoenix’s victory, Elon climbed to a season-high No. 6 ranking, while James Madison dropped six spots to No. 8. On October 13, Elon will look to keep their four-game win streak going against Delaware, while James Madison will try to bounce back against No. 25 Villanova.

Following their fifth-straight victory, North Dakota State gathered all 26 first-place votes. The new No. 2 is Kennesaw State following its 56-0 win over Presbyterian. The Top 5 is rounded out by Eastern Washington, Wofford and South Dakota State, respectively.

There are two other Top 25 matchups in Week 7 other than the James Madison-Villanova contest. The first is of Big Sky Conference rivals as No. 3 Eastern Washington plays host to No. 13 Weber State. The other matchup is a second Colonial Athletic Association contest that will send No. 22 Maine to No. 15 Rhode Island.
