[D3 POLL] Union Downs Ithaca To Climb 7 Spots In The Coaches’ Poll

Union’s (N.Y.) 31-21 victory over then-No. 7 Ithaca (N.Y.) moves them up to No. 17 in the AFCA Division III Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. With a halftime score of 17-14 favoring Union, the Dutchmen controlled the second half, only giving up one score. Union snapped the Bombers’ nine-year win streak against them, and hand Ithaca their first loss of the season. Union looks to move to 9-0 on the season as they take on Utica (N.Y.) this coming weekend.

The top three teams in the poll remain unchanged with No. 1 Mary Hardin-Baylor receiving 35 first-place votes. Following behind are No. 2 Mount Union (Ohio) and No. 3 Wisconsin-Whitewater. However, with a 19-18 overtime loss to Concordia (Minn.), St. John’s (Minn.) loses their No. 4 ranking, sliding down to No. 12. Wheaton (Ill.) moves up to the No. 4 spot, and Muhlenberg checks in at No. 5 this week. The Mules are 8-0 after cruising to a win over Johns Hopkins (Md.), 31-16.
