[D2 Poll] Minnesota State Takes Control Of The NSIC After Dominating Win

Minnesota State used a dominating performance to beat conference rival and then-No. 12 Minnesota-Duluth, 52-7. The loss, which was the fifth one in a row against the Mavericks, dropped the Bulldogs 11 spots to No. 23. Minnesota State keeps their No. 3 spot in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll and moves their record to 5-0.

Valdosta State (Ga.) remains No. 1 after a 42-17 win over Mississippi College. Ferris State (Mich.), Tarleton State (Texas), Notre Dame (Ohio) and Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) round out the top five.

There are two Top 25 matchups this coming week, with the first being a big game in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association as No. 7 Northwest Missouri State faces No. 13 Pittsburg State (Kan.) at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The second matchup is another battle of unbeatens as No. 9 Slippery Rock (Pa.) plays host to No. 16 Indiana (Pa.) for the top spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division.
There are two newcomers to this week’s Top 25 with the first being No. 24 Truman State (Mo.). This is the Bulldogs first ranking since October 30, 2001. The other newbie is No. 25 West Florida. The Argonauts are 4-1 after a 48-3 victory over Delta State (Miss.).
