WITTENBERG SURVIVES TOP 25 MATCHUP IN AFCA DIVISION III COACHES’ TOP 25 POLL

No. 9 Wittenberg (Ohio) scored the winning touchdown with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter, and their defense held on to give the Tigers a 21-14 victory over then-No. 25 Wabash (Ind.). With the win, Wittenberg moves to 8-0 has a one-game lead in the North Coast Athletic Conference with two games left in the 2017 season.

For a second straight week, the Top 10 remained unchanged with Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.) still holding the No. 1 spot with 46 first-place votes. Mount Union (Ohio), Wisconsin-Oshkosh, St. Thomas (Minn.), who earned one first-place vote, and Delaware Valley (Pa.) round out the Top 5.

With their loss, Wabash dropped out of the Top 25, allowing Trine (Ind.) to enter the poll at No. 25. The Thunder are 8-0 after beating Adrian (Mich.), 55-34, and sit atop the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The last time Trine was ranked in the AFCA poll was September 26, 2011 at No. 12.
