Alabama’s DeVonta Smith & Tulsa’s Zaven Collins Headline 2020 AFCA FBS Coaches’ All-American Teams
December 31, 2020
Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith and Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins headline the 2020 AFCA FBS Coaches’ All-America Teams announced today by the American Football Coaches Association.
The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.
The 2020 Sporting News Player of the Year, Smith earned first team AFCA honors by leading the nation in receptions (98), receiving yards (1,511) and yards after the catch (768). He ranks second in the nation in receiving touchdowns (17) and receiving yards per game (137.4).
Collins earned his first team AFCA honor by totaling 54 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, four interceptions, two touchdowns off interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, as well as one safety, in eight games. He has been named the 2020 Bronko Nagurski winner and was runner-up for the Butkus Award.
