Slippery Rock Takes Control Of The PSAC West

Slippery Rock (Pa.) built a 21-0 lead over Indiana (Pa.) early in the second quarter, but the Crimson Hawks scored 26 unanswered points to take a 26-21 lead in the fourth quarter. SRU answered back with five minutes left when Brayden Long hit Mike Solomon with a four-yard touchdown pass. IUP scored again with 1:35 left, making the score 32-27, but the Rock responded with a one minute, 19 second drive that ended with Long to Solomon in the back of the endzone for a 33-32 victory. The win moved Slippery Rock up to No. 6 in this week’s AFCA Division II Coaches Poll, presented by Hudl. IUP drops four places and holds on at No. 25.
The top five looks different this week after Colorado Mesa’s 14-13 upset over then-No. 4 Colorado School of Mines. The Orediggers drop eight spots to No. 12. Harding (Ark.), Grand Valley State (Mich.) and Valdosta State (Ga.) remain 1, 2, and 3 after dominant wins with Ferris State (Mich.) and Kutztown (Pa.) now rounding out the top five. Frostburg State (Md.) joins the poll at No. 24 for the first time since the final poll of 2021. The Bobcats are 5-0 after a 49-16 win over West Virginia Wesleyan.
