Hope Breaks Two Game Losing Streak To Alma

Hope (Mich.) improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1984 and secured a spot in the AFCA Division III Coaches Poll, presented by Hudl, after a thrilling 34-13 victory over previously ranked No. 15 Alma (Mich.). This impressive win not only elevated the Flying Dutchmen to No. 24 but also knocked the Scots out of the rankings. Hope built a 31-0 lead and cruised to victory despite Alma fighting back with two touchdowns in the third quarter. This is the first time Hope has appeared in the AFCA poll since November 14, 2000, when they were ranked in the same place at No. 24.
No. 12 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) remains undefeated at 4-0 after a thrilling overtime victory against Washington & Jefferson (Pa.), handing the Presidents their first loss of the season. The Presidents excelled early, leading 24-5 at halftime. However, the Tartans fought back, tying the game at 24-24 and forcing overtime. Washington & Jefferson took possession first, successfully kicking a field goal to go up 27-24. But Carnegie Mellon responded with a 20-yard touchdown sealing their victory at 30-27.
