Notre Dame (Ohio) Ranked in AFCA Poll for First Time
WACO, TEX.– Notre Dame (Ohio) began their football program in 2010 and joined NCAA Division II in 2012. The Falcons have come a long way in a short amout of time as they have earned their first-ever ranking in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, sharing the No. 25 spot with Southwest Baptist (Mo.). Notre Dame is 7-1 on the season and sitting alone in the second spot in the Mountain East Conference. Their seven wins this season have tied a program best that was set last year.
With Midwestern State (Texas) and Tuskegee (Ala.) both losing, the top five has a different look, but Northwest Missouri State still sits at No. 1 with all 30 first-place votes. The Bearcats are followed by Grand Valley State (Mich.), Shepherd (W.Va.), Sioux Falls (S.D.) and Harding (Ark.). Sioux Falls’ No. 4 ranking and Harding’s No. 5 ranking are the highest for either school in the AFCA poll.
There are two top 25 matchups this week, with the first being No. 19 Wayne State (Mich.) traveling to No. 22 Ferris State (Mich.). The second has No. 20 Fairmont State (W.Va.) hosting No. 25t Notre Dame to see if the Fighting Falcons can stay with Shepherd for the top spot in the Mountain East Conference.
