Concord Makes First Appearance in Division II Poll

After starting the 2014 season at 5-0, Concord (W.Va.) makes its first-ever appearance in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, coming in at No. 23 this week after beating Fairmont State (W.Va.), 45-21. The Mountain Lions become the 119th different team to be ranked in the poll since it began in 2000. Humboldt State (Calif.) is the second newcomer in this week’s poll, coming in at No. 24. The Jacks are also 5-0 after a 53-0 blanking of South Dakota School of Mines.

The Top 5 teams remain the same this week with Northwest Missouri State still No. 1, followed by Colorado State-Pueblo, Minnesota State-Mankato, Minnesota-Duluth and North Alabama. Shepherd (W.Va.) and West Chester (Pa.) flip-flopped rankings, with the Rams getting the No. 9 spot and the Golden Rams dropping to No. 10. Midwestern State (Texas) dropped nine places to No. 25 after its loss to Angelo State (Texas), 45-31, while West Alabama and Winona State (Minn.) dropped out of the poll this week.
